Life of political parties : RLC joins the UP the Renewal

It is an officialization we will say. Support of the party of the presidential movement during the legislative elections of 8 January 2023, the Restored Confidence party (RLC) formalized its merger with the Union Progressive le Renouveau (UP-R). It is thanks to a congress organized on Saturday 20 May 2023 in Grand Popo.

Restore Trust (Rlc) disappears from the Beninese political spectrum. So decided the congressmen. The party led by Irénée Agossa is dissolved and de facto initiates a process of merger-absorption with the Union Progressive le Renouveau. For Congress participants, it is a necessary step. From his words, the president of the now ex-political party RLC believes that it is necessary to go beyond the divisions of the opposition movement to truly unite around development issues in Benin. “We now need a profound change for this country to be able to face the development challenges of our country….by already assessing the issue, we said that the UP le Renouveau must lead this change” thinks the former presidential candidate in April 2021.

During the legislative 8 January 2023, Irenee Agossa, then opponent of the regime of President Patrice Talon, and his party (RLC) publicly supported the Union Progressive le Renouveau, a party of the presidential movement. This decision taken in Grand Popo is therefore only a logical continuation of the attitude of the party a few months ago..
