UP-The Renewal : The Tchoco-tchoco now in the shade of the Baobab

Farewell to the Democratic Renewal Party (FART) exit Progressive Union (the LNA party benefited from the support of the political parties of the presidential movement, in particular the Union ¨Progressiste). Welcome to the Beninese political arena at the Union Progressive Le Renouveau (UP The Renewal). The creation of the new political party born from the merger of the first two is put on the baptismal font this Sunday 21 August 2022. The ceremony took place at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo.

As agreed for a few days the lieutenants of the two chapels have accepted to merge into a single political bloc. All dressed in white boubous, the presidents of the two political parties marched together, like two newlyweds, to act the union in front of the militants. The smile displayed by Joseph Djogbenou and Adrien Houngbédji said a lot about this deal, it seems “win-win”.

Speaking of fusion it really is one. From name to logo, going through the rallying cry, the identities of the two former parties remain clearly visible and present. The colors of the new party mix the green of the still standing baobab tree with its roots inked in the yellow of the hope of former and future militants. Its branches touch the sky well colored by rainbow colors, historical symbol of the PRD of master Adrien Houngbédji. The same goes for the new slogan. There is a continuum that must be observed. By chanting Tchoco-tchoco now, the chorus of activists will resound with Maintenons le cap! Tchoco-tchoco, Let's stay the course! Tchoco-tchoco, Let's stay the course, Let's stay the course, Let's stay the course ! It is also agreed that the assets of the PRD and the UP now belong to the UP – Renewal. As for the national headquarters of the new party, it is located in the political capital of Benin, Porto-Novo and more precisely in the Hoinmè district.

Who would've believed that? The PRD disappears from the political spectrum. It's more than 30 years of existence, dozens of deputies in the hemicycle. From the first Beninese parliament installed in 1991 to that of 2015, the Tchoco-tchoco party has always shone with its rainbow colors in the hemicycle at the governors' palace. There was the time of years 1990 there will be the one in august 2022.

Founded in 1990 by Maître Adrien Houngbédji and some political exiles, the Democratic Renewal Party (FART) was, beyond a political party, a mark of identity that united the daughters and sons of 15, 19 and 20^th  electoral district of Benin.
