A decade after its existence : The Global Shea Alliance in accountability mode

A decade after its existence : The Global Shea Alliance in accountability mode

Ten years in the existence of an association is a grace. And it deserves to be celebrated. It is therefore right that the Global Shea Alliance took advantage of its annual conference to commemorate the event. It is also an opportunity for officials to take stock of the decade of activity.

For three days (of 27 at 29 Avril 2021),  the actors of the shea sector gathered within the Global Shea Alliance have, through a videoconference, an overview of the various actions carried out over the past ten years. From improving the livelihoods of women's groups working in the sector to the restoration of degraded parks through the expansion of markets and the establishment of initiatives to increase trees, the results are positive over the last ten years. The figures put forward during the presentation of the balance sheet say a lot. So they took the opportunity to define the prospects for better results in the years to come.. The theme around which the annual conference is held, coupled with the celebration of ten years of activities of the crucible is entitled "Building the industry of the next decade". A theme that justifies the preponderant place occupied by global cooperation to lead to a qualitative and quantitative industrialization of shea throughout the world. Other themes are on the menu for the celebration. Among others we can cite "the outlook for demand in the COVID-19 era", "The restoration of shea parks", "New regulations that influence the industry",…. Several women's groups, NGOs and many other global players in the shea sector are participating in the conference. Far from being a melting pot of discussions and reflections, this statutory conference allows 35 small and medium enterprises in four African countries (Mali, Benign, Burkina-Faso and Togo) to shed light on their activity capacities through a virtual fair.
