Agroecological transition in the cotton zones of Benin:An important project to make the sector more efficient

Wednesday Council of Ministers 27 January 2021, under the communications mentioned the Contractualization for technical assistance for the benefit of the Agroecological Transition Support Project in the Cotton Zones of Benin (TAZCO2). According to the press release of the said Council of Ministers, the project aims to sustainably improve farm income and crop yields from cotton rotation, by restoring and fertilizing soils, through the adoption of agroecological practices and appropriate mechanization. It will thus ensure a generalization of the technical repository developed and implemented during the pilot phase which took place in 2017 at 2019.

The statement said that the project's intervention area covers 22 municipalities gathering 180.000 producers who produce 90% of national cotton production, as well as a large part of food crops. It is for the purpose of recruiting international technical assistance, within the framework of the agreement signed between Benin and the lessor, the French Development Agency (AFD), underlines the press release of the Council of Ministers of 27 last january. Recall that under the normative measures that the Council adopted the decrees setting the attributes and appellations of ranks as well as the distinctive signs within the Beninese Armed Forces.
