Tourism and local development : Hubert Olivier Dossou-Yovo on several paintings

Since the publication of his very recent book on the tourist potential of the town of Tori Bossito, making him the author of three various works on the theme, Hubert Dossou-Yovo does self-promotion. The consultant and researcher from the Applied Ecology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Abomey-Calavi marks his presence at cultural events of international scope.

Two outings filled the Consultant Researcher’s agenda in September 2024. The first is the ”Drum Festival & Legacies”. At this annual event hosted by the Mèdédjonou Arts and Crafts Center in the commune of Adjarra, the natives of the said commune had the opportunity to discover, for those who don't know it yet or rediscover it for others (in the columns of the book) their locality of origin from a tourist perspective. The second event in the same month of September is the double celebration of the identity celebration of the Adjarra cultural era. “Adjarra Kukanwhé” and that of the Toli cultural era. The first took place at the University of Adjarra and the other, the commune of Missérété.

But before, Hubert Olivier Dossou-Yovo shone with his presence in Porto-Novo, the political capital of Benin. It was on the occasion of the Festival of Masks held in August 2024. The Consulting Researcher used the platform offered to him to explain, orally, its vision of sustainable tourism development of the communes of Benin to tourists, scientists as well as the general public. Naturally, the consultant researcher and author of three booklets on the tourist potential of several regions of South Benin explained to them the rich contents of his works. During the same month of August,  Hubert O. Dossou-Yovo was in the royal court of Daagbo Hounon Houna 2 in Ouidah as part of the Biennale 2024 on Vodun. There too, the exercise of presentation and exhibition of the consultant's books is repeated successfully. Much sought after by the media for the relevance of his research, the author also does not fail to make interventions to expose the contents of his works. We can cite the daily Gaskiyani Info, television channels like Esae Tv and Kiawo Bénin Tv. Added to this are Bip Radio and Radio Bénin Culture.

Like everything good and useful has support, the Consulting Researcher receives support of all kinds. In the rank of supporters who “endorse” this initiative to promote tourism in the municipalities and districts of Benin and are already supporting it, there are numerous political-administrative authorities and not the least. Let us specify that the teaching of tourism potential is on the program in the Republic of Benin since the CM2 class but also in the 3rd year class in History and Geography and in secondary cycle subjects..
