The multidisciplinary doctoral school of the University of Abomey-Calavi now has in its ranks, a brand new doctor of geography. This is Donatien Azian who received the Honorable Mention, after the defense of his doctoral thesis on the topic : ” Gouvernance de l’eau dans la basse vallée de l’Ouémé dans un contexte de changement climatique au Bénin(West Africa)”.
The main objective of this research which lasted four years, according to the applicant is to study the effect of climate change on the water resources of the municipalities of the lower valley of the Ouémé. “Les changements climatiques sont à la une des décideurs aussi bien scientifiques que politiques au niveau mondial. These changes pose a potentially major threat to the environment, le développement et la gouvernance de l’eau au Bénin”, he asserted.
Since then, souligne-t-il “La question de la gestion de l’eau devient cruciale car sa bonne gestion est une condition indispensable au développement humain. Or, la mise en œuvre d’une politique de gestion ne peut se faire que dans le contexte des CC”.
Very satisfied with this work, the members of the jury headed by, Professor Léocadie Odoulami found the subject to be topical and very relevant. Moreover, the doctoral student was deemed worthy of the rank of doctor and received the very honorable mention..
