Doctoral thesis defense : Donatien Azian obtains a very honorable mention

At the University of Abomey-Calavi, Donatien AZIAN supported, this Friday 13 November 2020, his thesis in Geography, Environmental geoscience and spatial planning option. He was unanimously judged worthy of the rank of doctor with a very honorable mention..

The multidisciplinary doctoral school of the University of Abomey-Calavi now has in its ranks, a brand new doctor of geography. This is Donatien Azian who received the Honorable Mention,  after the defense of his doctoral thesis on the topic : ” Water governance in the lower Ouémé valley in the context of climate change in Benin(West Africa)”.

The main objective of this research which lasted four years, according to the applicant is to study the effect of climate change on the water resources of the municipalities of the lower valley of the Ouémé. “Climate change is at the forefront of both scientific and political decision-makers at the global level. These changes pose a potentially major threat to the environment, development and governance of water in Benin”, he asserted.

 Since then,  he emphasizes “The issue of water management becomes crucial because its good management is an essential condition for human development. Or, the implementation of a management policy can only be done in the context of CCs”.

Very satisfied with this work, the members of the jury headed by, Professor Léocadie Odoulami found the subject to be topical and very relevant. Moreover, the doctoral student was deemed worthy of the rank of doctor and received the very honorable mention..
