Sessimè: "I will say that it is possible to change"

Sessime" he says"

Real name Bidossessi Christelle Guédou, Sessimè is a songwriter, Beninese performer and singer. With her new single titled ‘’ Diyo ’’ she calls on the human being to ’Change’ ’behavior. In this interview, she gives us the reasons that motivated her to choose this title.

"Says", what is the concept ?

Already ‘’ Diyo ’’ is taken from the Fon language, a language mainly spoken in the south of Benin. This expression simply means ’Change’ ’. And as I say in my verse : " My brother, my sister, how do you want God to give you what you want if in your inner fort, you are used(e) ? If your only desire is to harm your neighbor (…) You have to change ". This is the essence of my message. You wanna touch the top like the big celebrities of this world, my brother, my sister you must ‘’ Diyo ’’ (changer).

This title is therefore not only for the Beninese but it is much more Human Being in general. You make your neighbor feel guilty all the time. For you, it is he who is the source of your misfortunes and failures. There is no point in complaining. Every time something bad happens to us, we accuse others. We even think we weren't born under the lucky stars. The worst that we have no right to happiness. So through ‘’ Diyo ’’ I say no to these thoughts, no to despair. The change we think about must start from ourselves. Let's start by questioning ourselves and we'll see.

Is it easy to Diyo so easily ?

I will say that it is possible to change. Easy ? Non, nothing is easy. Start with a motivational message and that's what we do, us others. And also we have to understand that we have to put in a lot of effort. Things don't change on their own. Make up our minds and it's okay ‘’ Diyo ’’. As I have said, we need to do an introspection to realize the mistakes we make each time and which extinguish the light that is ours. This is where the change begins.

Did the concept of "Diyo" hit the intended target ?

Yes !!! The target has been hit but we continue to work. The goal is to reach most of our population, to cross the border and also impact the lives of people in Nigeria and everywhere. It's even the biggest goal, plus de deux cents millions d’habitants je pense que si nous arrivons à le faire on sera tous content du travail.

We do not make music for fun but out of pure passion in addition to being a profession. The expected result by nurturing this passion and exercising it, it is that humanity is reached through our messages, that we can convey our emotions, our ideas for the sole purpose of communicating with those who listen to us. Beyond the financial aspect that is expected by the staff, the team and the production house, there is also the spiritual. We have to integrate people's hearts and minds through our songs and I think ‘’ Diyo ’does and will continue to do so.. I'm happy when in a physical or virtual chat, one tell the other : " My friend, it takes ‘’ Diyo ’’ ”to certainly challenge the latter in the face of her actions.

The message is in Fon language. We see you a lot in activity in South Benin, what is done for fans of the North and the Center ?

To laugh !!! It is true that we are used to forgetting the central and northern regions of the country but this time I think they will be taken into account for this ‘’ Diyo Media Tour ’’. Already two weeks ago, we were in the Hills on a local radio to talk to the fans and pass on the message. But in the second stage of the ‘’ Diyo Media Tour ’’, it is planned to go to these areas. It must also be said that we started the project just a few weeks ago but I can reassure Benin fans in general that we will do everything to travel the country.. This message must pass, it must be Diyo. We have to change.
