Senegal : News from Ousmane Sonko

We know a little more about the position of the leader of the Senegalese opposition. No news since his triumphant arrival at Velingra (South of Senegal) in an unmarked vehicle, Ousmane Sonko according to AFP was dropped off at his home on the evening of this Sunday by elements of the elite corps of the Senegalese Gendarmerie, the GIGN.

Indeed, “who says federate kingdom Vodunnon, Interior Minister Antoine Diome invoked clashes between supporters of Ousmane Sonko and the police who have accompanied since Friday the return of the opponent to Dakar by road.
“There was a death in Kolda, will the state sit idly by (…) The answer can only be negative”, said the minister on public television.

He argued that Ousmane Sonko should have applied for prior authorization before organizing what he called a “liberty caravan”.

“We were therefore able to supervise the leader of the (party) Pastef (M. Sonko) to his home (in Dakar) where it was deposited”, he said. A source close to the authorities specified that Ousmane Sonko had been arrested near Koungheul by the gendarmes and brought back by them to the capital..
