Seminar on security and violence in stadiums in Benin : An initiative of the Benin Football League

The Benin Football League (LFB) organized, Friday 24 February 2023 to Porto-Novo, an information and exchange seminar on security and the violence observed in the country's stadiums.

This is the objective pursued by the Football League of the Beninese Football Federation by initiating this seminar on the question. took part in this important meeting, organizers, the security managers and supporters managers of the various clubs involved in the various championships. This is why it has decided to periodically organize this type of seminar in order to listen to the clubs. The work was led by the vice-president of the Benin Football League (LFB), Imorou Bouraïma. He wanted there to be no more violence in the stadiums of Benin. Car, these are acts that do a disservice to the clubs that engage in them. He indicated that penal provisions are being taken to punish those who will be guilty of acts of violence in the stadiums..

Several communications were presented. The first was presented by the vice-president of the LFB and had as its theme "The effects and damage caused by violence; the different cases of violence observed ; the most affected stadiums ». The second is entitled “Disputes of the arbitration, the ways and means to lodge a technical reservation against the referee or a claim or letter of complaint to obtain sanctions against a referee”. It was presented by the head of the arbitration department, Thomas Bocco.

“The provisions of the regulations and the disciplinary code on violence : the facts and the penalties incurred individually and collectively”. This is the theme of the third communication presented by the permanent secretary of the league, Alphonse Hounkpatin accompanied by the arbitrator Fadel Adégnika who is a lawyer specializing in criminal matters. The last communication had as its subject "Organization of the matches of the championship : What must be done in terms of organization to preserve security before, during and after the game ». This communication was made by Imorou Bouraïma.

Participants at this seminar recommended that referees be better trained. They formulated 7 recommendations including the publication of the various sanctions imposed on the referees and the prosecution of the perpetrators of violence in the stadiums. Participants have been instructed to resume this seminar within their respective clubs..
