Al Haouz earthquake: His Majesty King Mohammed VI thanks brother countries

In the afternoon of Saturday 9 September 2023 at the Royal Palace in Rabat, His Majesty King Mohammed VI chaired, a working session devoted to examining the situation following the painful earthquake that occurred on Friday 8 September and which caused significant human and material losses in the Al-Haouz region.

On this occasion, Mohammed VI was kind enough to express “the most sincere thanks of the Kingdom of Morocco to the many brotherly and friendly countries which have expressed their solidarity with the Moroccan people in this difficult situation and several of whom have expressed their availability to provide assistance and assistance in these particular circumstances”. Here is the point of this session :

– Dans le cadre d’une démarche conforme aux standards internationaux en pareilles circonstances, the Moroccan authorities have carried out a careful assessment of aid needs on the ground, aware that uncoordinated aid will be counterproductive.

– Sur la base de cette évaluation, the Moroccan authorities have, at this precise stage, responded favorably, to offers of support from friendly countries offering to provide relief and rescue teams.

– Selon la même démarche de coordination critique lors de cette phase d’intervention, the teams dispatched by these countries put themselves in operational contact with their Moroccan counterparts.

– Avec l’évolution des opérations d’intervention, the assessment of possible needs could evolve into other phases which could lead to recourse to offers of support from other countries and which implies the provision of other forms of support.
