“Relations and interactions between traditional media and new media in Benin”. This is the theme that caught the attention of the juries during Victor Odun Kalu's thesis defense.. After a brilliant presentation, Victor Kalu received his Doctorate in Information and Communication with very honorable mention awarded by an international jury of five members.

After months of research, Victor Odun Kalu first supports, that social media are characterized by immediacy and interactivity. Ensuite, he specifies that traditional media are losing audiences with the advent of new media but that they will not disappear. Finally, learned with indignation of the detention of journalist Patrice GAGUIDI and the promoter of the newspaper "Le Soleil Benin Info", he notes the extension of classic media towards social media and on the other hand, notes the interactions between new media and traditional media as well as the difficulties that can arise from them.

The new Doctor has been researching how new media works, the working methods and means used by traditional media in a Beninese environment increasingly dominated by new media, and the adaptation of traditional media to new media. He did not fail to make suggestions. It proposes to traditional media to integrate digital channels into their traditional channel of dissemination of information to maintain a permanent presence with the consumer then the establishment of a Media Education Council in place of the Haute audiovisual and communication authority. In his summary, he also recommends the fight against fake news and the reorganization of the national legal arsenal. However, the candidate intends to continue scientific research in order to make available, tools that will allow media professionals and leaders to make the right decisions. At the end of his brilliant presentation, the international jury headed by Médard Dominique Bada, full professor at Uac, appreciated the scientific work of candidate Victor Odun Kalu who obtained his degree of Doctor in information and communication science with the very honorable mention awarded by an international jury of five members.
