The Network of non-governmental organizations for health prevention, grassroots sanitation and consumer protection (Ropsab-Dc) held saturday, 11 mars 2023, in Cotonou, an extraordinary general meeting. Opportunity for officials to clarify the role of health brigadiers.
This extraordinary assembly follows the council of ministers of the 22 February 2023, defining the rules relating to the creation of the municipal police and statutory rules common to municipal police officers. So, during this important meeting, the role of health brigadiers was clearly clarified to everyone so as not to trample on government decisions. During this encounter of truth and warning, the general secretary of the network, Lambert Migan, took stock of the measures taken, including among others, exchanges of letters between the Head of State and those responsible for the network, meeting with officials of the Beninese Environment Agency (Abe), etc. He also denounced reprehensible practices adopted by certain health brigadiers in the field., despite the regular holding of General Assemblies to situate everyone in their role.
To remedy this, it was decided to review the method of recruiting health brigadiers. Lambert Migan also provided reminders of the behavior to be adopted by the health brigadiers, with a view to giving credibility to the network's actions, especially, the ban on inspection and seizure of goods, their role being limited to awareness, the ban on seizure of medicines, the compulsory wearing of a work uniform before any operation in the field, etc.
During this meeting, important decisions were also taken. First, following the mediation of his peers, Sanitary Brigadier Djakpo Alexis, removed from the workforce for indiscipline is reinstated in his duties. Ensuite, Health Brigadiers absent at the General Assembly are no longer authorized to carry out operations in the field. Des décisions fortes pour mettre de l’ordre et la discipline au sein du Ropsab-Dc qui abat un travail remarquable sur le terrain.
