The International Federation of Football Association will rule on Tuesday 23 November 2021 on the appeal brought by Benin to contest the outcome of the match against the DRC, counting for the sixth and final day of the World Qualifiers, Qatar 2022. While waiting for the verdict, the Beninese sports minister, Oswald Homeky, at the microphone of BBC Africa spoke on this nebulous issue.
Ulcerated by this episode, the patron of Beninese sports, Oswald Homeky evoked a violation of gambling laws on the part of the technical staff of the DR Congo. "This is an appeal concerning the clear violation of the gambling laws by the DR Congo", he said while indicating that "the number and the times of substitutions of the players during a match are well known. Les règles du jeu sont claires à ce sujet et nous avons donc un cas ici. C’est pourquoi la Fédération Béninoise de Football a demandé à la FIFA de tirer les conclusions et de prendre les mesures pertinentes de cette violation flagrante des règles ».
He says he is serene and confident while hoping that the International Football Federation, Association will give a favorable response to the request of Benin.
As a reminder, the dispute concerns the match of the last day of the group J qualifiers between the DRC and Benin. The DRC beat Benin on the ground by 2 goals at 0. But the Beninese side noted irregularities in the replacements made by the coach of the Leopards, Hector Cuper. She therefore seized the supreme body of sport king.
