Met on monday 29 mars 2021 in Cotonou, the two umbrella organizations of people with disabilities in Benin are committed to defending the rights of people with disabilities to live in an inclusive and peaceful society during and after the election period. This is the Federation of Associations of People with Disabilities of Benin (Faphb) and that of the Handisport Federation of Benin respectively chaired by Nassirou Domingo and Ouorou Abdel Rahman Barè who through a press briefing invited the population to advocate peace in this sensitive period.
Aware that peace is not an empty word and that it is behavior, and that it should be preserved, the two umbrella organizations of disabled people invited the political parties, political groupings to behaviors that prioritize peace. They therefore invited civil society organizations (Osc) to invest more in the culture and consolidation of peace during the ongoing electoral process in Benin.
They then always, through the voice of the two presidents, asked the men of the media to show professionalism and above all invited them to respect the code of ethics and professional conduct in order to avoid slippages. "The situation of people with disabilities is already very problematic so that politics can add more. This is why we have the obligation and the duty to favor peaceful behavior during this electoral interval ", they indicated. To finish, they reaffirmed their political neutrality on the basis of the law 1901 and stood out from any political chapel.
