It is on the score of 13-9 as Independent Pétanque Club (IPC) arranged this Sunday 5 May 2024, of its counterpart of Petanque Club of Sodjatimè (PCS), at the end of a two-day competition organized by the young promoter of Pétanque Bar and guide to young pétanque nuggets, Thierry GANSA, to celebrate the talent of champion Marcel Gbétablé.
Indeed, after his coronation at the pétanque world championships in September 2023, the young world champion in mixed doubles, vice world champion in men's doubles and in the Nations Cup has left his bags in France where he plays in St Restitut. It is therefore to awaken the enthusiasm of young athletes and encourage them to pursue their dream of champion that this two-day competition was organized in collaboration with Roi Solaire, Signature and other partners.
In total, 80 doubles from the pétanque clubs of Benin and Togo composed the menu of the group and play-off phases of this beautiful mass of the round mass. A l’issue de ces phases, these are the Independent Pétanque Club training courses (IPC) and Pétanque Club of Sodjeatimè (PCS) who crossed swords in the final. If the first three ends had the advantage in the score of the IPC doublet, it did not take long to see that of PCS return to equality at the end of the 6th lead, 8-8. In this last rather sensitive turn, good scores were radically destroyed by wonderful tiles from Chabi, transformed into a ball surgeon. Unfortunately, his determination will eventually fade after two missed shots, thus giving the advantage to Amir, during the 10th lead (12-9). The last lead logically smiles at IPC after a nice shot from Amir, synonymous with victory. Amir and Raman from IPC lift the competition trophy.
“C’est un pari gagné”, rejoiced the world champion Marcel Gbétablé who urges his brothers to redouble their ardor. The initiator of the competition does not intend to stop there. “Bientôt, nous aurons une compétition pour les femmes” a annoncé Thierry GANSA. A perspective which clearly demonstrates the enthusiasm of the promoter of Pétank Bar to support young Beninese bowlers.
