The President of the Republic of Benin, Patrice Talon installed, Monday 22 July 2024, the High Commissioner for the Prevention of Corruption in his functions. During the ceremony, the head of state gave warnings to Jacques Migan.

Jacques Migan was installed as High Commissioner for the Prevention of Corruption. The installation ceremony took place, Monday 22 July 2024 at Marina Palace. During this ceremony, President Patrice Talon warned the High Commissioner about the mission that awaits him. This institution was created on 23 June 2020.  The Head of State justified the time taken for the installation of the High Commission by imperatives linked to the search for adequate instruments to make the institution effective and able to properly play its role against a major scourge..

“Assuming this function is much more difficult than cracking down on corruption. You can imagine how enormous the wait is to find the instruments, the dynamics, tools to prevent corruption and root it out. It is a complicated and difficult task. You understand why it took us so long to find the five-legged sheep.", said Patrice Talon.

The Beninese president stressed to the High Commissioner for the Prevention of Corruption the highly sensitive nature of his mission. “You have to carry out one of the most difficult missions, even the most difficult in the nation, of the Republic », he warned.

According to Patrice Talon, corruption remains the main evil preventing the emergence of developing countries.
