“My first poem collection” : Princia Djossou masterpiece

The VIP room of Codiam de Cotonou hosted Friday 26 February 2021, the launch of the first collection of poems by the young Beninese writer, Princess Donatella Djossou. The young author did not wait for her 09 years before being counted among Beninese writers.

“My first poem collection”, this is the title given to the first literary masterpiece to bear the claws of the young author, Princess Donatella Djossou. Eight years, Princia Djossou inspired by the feathers of these parents and of course by other authors that she takes the time to read, thus entered the history of Beninese literature by becoming the youngest Beninese author. Performance hailed by the presenter of the book Jean Fande for whom "this collection of poems is recommended in schools and in families".

Discovering the work

Twenty one (21) poems make up this collection. The topics covered range from the recognition of divine greatness (“God who knows how to do everything”, the first poem of the collection), to the knowledge of the special childish character (“The smiling child” and “A street child”, two poems from the book) through the definition and description of the educational and school location (” School “, “School, furniture and building”, “The school of the wise”, three texts from the book), as well as his childhood life in the media and digital world (“Digital child”, “My dad at ORTB”, “My daddy and the ORTB”, ” My father and the ORTB”, “My mother and the ORTB”, “My mom”, six poems from the work).

The theme of parental and filial life was invoked and evoked, and even provoked in places when the author talks about his parents and grandparents, sailing from its nuclear family cocoon (“My brother”) to his pre-generational ancestry (“My grandmother…”, “My grandfather…”).

And the gender theme is strongly emphasized (“I am also a woman”) for a claim of intimate education : the right to information to avoid sexual harassment, rapes, forced child marriage and other assaults on young girls. And to invite parents to follow up. We cannot forget the profession of literary faith (“My feather”, one of his poems, to the page 30).

Completed printing in February 2021 at Éditions S21, the work of fifty (50) pages with illustrations signed Romaric AHITCHÉMÈ, a preface by Judith-Bernice ADIVIGNON, Writer-Journalist, an afterword by Patrick DJOSSOU, Journalist-Writer.

Princess Donatella Mignonna DJOSSOU, aged eight (8) years, is still in Primary School

This collection of twenty-one (21) poems, she wrote it during the cordon sanitaire made in South Benin to stop the spread of CORONAVIRUS COVID-19, from March 2020. These are poems written in secret and submitted to the appreciation of his six (6) maternal uncles, all students.

his father, Patrick DJOSSOU, was only involved on Thursday 29 May 2020, eve of the release of the second book (the novel “Gbègnonmon”) from his mother, Judith-Bernice ADIVIGNON. An outing during which Princia declaimed one of the texts of the collection : My mom. A declamation that made her mother cry, surprised by this beautiful secret of his daughter.

The wish of Princia Donatella Mignonna DJOSSOU, she is the youngest writer from Benin, from Africa and the French-speaking world.

The Guinness Book will probably be able to confirm or deny it.. Besides writing, this young author loves to read. As favorite authors, there are above all his two parents writers, Judith-Bernice ADIVIGNON and Patrick DJOSSOU. Ensuite, she devours comics. She also adores retarded cartoons. Music is his other hobby. Sing and dance, it is with pleasure that she does it, especially when it comes to gospel.
