Mara’ Can, Grand-Popo 2023 : The given top

The 10th edition of the Maracana Africa Cup of Nations kicked off this Tuesday 23 September in the seaside town of Grand-Popo.

After the parade of the different delegations, Raymond Hounkpatin (1Deputy Mayor of Grand-Popo), after his welcome, wished everyone a great competition.

Prudent Victor Topanou (President of CONOR of the Beninese Maracana Federation and General Supervisor of COCAN), a salué toutes les parties prenantes à l’organisation de la Mara’Can Grand – Popo 2023. Charlemagne Blue, President of the International Federation of Maracana Associations did not fail in his speech, to invite the different teams involved to fight to snatch the eight qualifying tickets for Africa (sure 10 pays) at the next World Cup of the discipline which will take place in September 2024 in Ivory Coast.

“Aujourd’hui est un jour de fête. It is with great joy and satisfaction that the people of Benin, following the 50th World Pétanque Championships, are today welcoming the African Maracana Cup.. That is why, I would like to thank everyone who, near or far,, have done everything possible for the effective holding of this major sporting event, in particular the CONOR, its president and all its members. Thank you for your commitment to tackling such great challenges on the scale of our continent. The whole world during its five days of competition is watching us, and you are called to write new letters of nobility for the African Maracana and thus bring our continent to the peaks of the global Maracana. Throughout the confrontations, je vous invite au fair-play qui est l’éthique même du Maracana”, declared Ernest Guillaume Sossou (Director of Cabinet of the Minister of Sports) representing Minister Oswald Homeky.

Les rencontres de la Mara’Can Grand – Popo 2023 will take place, every day, until 30 September 2023 at the Grand-Popo sports stadium. The entrance is free. For this 10th edition of the Can de Maracana, Canada, France and the United States are the invited countries.
