Of 21 at 23 October 2021, the Global Shea Alliance (AGK) and the Reinforced Integrated Framework Implementation Unit in Mali organized the national shea conference in Mali. The event saw the participation of more than 150 participants from Mali, from Guinea Conakry from Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.
Several topics were discussed during the conference, namely the challenges and prospects of the shea sector in Mali, the importance of industry in job creation, the management and protection of the shea resource, the organization and structuring of the sector. In view of the importance of the subjects, the Secretary General of the Malian Ministry of Industry and Trade expressed the hope that the actors will have “frank and constructive exchanges” in order to respond effectively to the challenges of the sector. The conference is part of the implementation of the Regional Support Program for the Commercial and Inclusive Development of Shea (PRADCIFK), a regional initiative, financed by the Enhanced Integrated Framework (CIR) and implemented in close collaboration with the CIR Implementation Units in four countries, namely : The Benin, the Burkina Faso, Mali and Togo. So seizing the opportunity, Simballa Sylla, President of the Global Shea Alliance (AGK) highlighted some results of the PRADCIFK. These include the construction and provision of 36 warehouses for women collectors and processors, dont 12 warehouses in Mali, series of training courses in cooperative development and business management which have reached almost 17 000 women ; building the capacities of 79 cooperatives including twenty in Mali in the production of soap ; support for 5 Malian SMEs to exhibit their products at the IATF fair in South Africa.
