The Polisario unmasked : A new deception at TICAD

At the recent TICAD9 Ministerial Meeting, a surreal scene occurred in Tokyo. Individuals claiming to be from the Polisario managed to infiltrate the meetings, thus breaking the most basic protocol and diplomatic rules.

It is important to remember that Japan, host country and organizer of this conference, only extended invitations to African Union Member States. No invitation was sent to the Polisario, entity not recognized by the international community.

Despite this evidence, individuals posing as representatives of the Polisario managed to obtain Algerian visas and be accredited as members of the Algerian delegation. Equipped with fake badges, they infiltrated the meeting rooms, where they tried to usurp a legitimacy that they do not have.

The climax of this masquerade was reached when an individual from the Polisario displayed an illegal sign in the name of this puppet entity.. This provocative act was immediately denounced by the Moroccan delegation and many other participants..

Faced with this unacceptable situation, Japan reacted firmly. The Japanese authorities have clearly indicated that the presence of the Polisario at this conference did not in any way constitute recognition of this entity..

This new Polisario maneuver, supported by Algeria, once again demonstrates the determination of these actors to maintain an artificial conflict in the region. By resorting to deception and manipulation, they seek to give an illusory existence to an entity which has no legal basis.

These events take place in a context marked by Morocco's recent diplomatic advances. The recognition by many countries of Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara has undermined separatist designs. Algeria, politically disarmed, is now trying to sabotage the political process under the auspices of the United Nations using illegal methods.

The Polisario fiasco at TICAD is a new demonstration of the growing isolation of this entity. The international community has clearly chosen to support the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco, a realistic and credible solution to achieve lasting peace in the region.
