Le Bénin face à la cherté de la vie: Wadagni explique, Fight against noise pollution in

The Minister of Economy and Finance participated in a general public program on the cost of living in Benin. A broadcast during which, the Minister of State provided clarifications on certain rumors suggesting that there is a correlation between taxes and the cost of living in Benin.

“No tax has seen an increase in amount”, declared Romuald Wadagni during the program broadcast on the local television channels. The national financier claims to tell “the reality of things” to the Beninese people during this media outing. Analyzes following these declarations reveal that the authority gave its part of the truth but did not dispel all the doubts according to a reminder of the facts by the site benincheck.info. This is a comparison of the general tax code 2021 and 2022 which confuses the assertion of the Minister of State. Based on the synthetic professional tax, it should be noted that the tax rate increased from 2% of turnover in 2021 at 5% in 2022.

In the article 1084-21 of the general tax code version 2021 “The synthetic professional tax owed by micro-enterprises is determined by applying a rate of 2% to the amount of turnover achieved, whatever the nature of the activity” while the article 183 of the code of 2022 brings this same tax to 5% “The synthetic professional tax is determined by application to the amount of annual revenue, at a rate of 5%. It is clearly established that the increase in the rate induces an increase in the GST.

Elimination of the salary deduction : the other pair of sleeves

On salaries. New provisions taken or readjustments made in the new code lead to tax increases for employees at the same time as others benefit from reductions or the status quo.. Until 2021, the code provides that civil servants caring for children benefit from a tax reduction. This reduction varies from 5 at 23 %. If according to the government, this removal is the correction of an injustice done to female employees who did not benefit from this tax reduction until now, exclusively granted to men. Trade unionists believe the opposite. This measure is nothing more and nothing less than a reduction in workers’ income.. It's been a long time since the gutters no longer experienced these cleanings, some state employees saw cuts in their salaries at the start of the year.

So many discrepancies between the clarifications of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni, and the reality of the figures which show that the general tax code 2022, has something to do with the cries of distress of citizens.
