Elite Karate 2021 : An initiative of the Atlantic-Littoral League

In order to gauge the current level of its athletes, the Atlantic-Littoral League chaired by Eric Gbègbo organized for three days the first edition of the Karate Elite Atlantique-Littoral. This competition had its outcome on Sunday 28 February 2021 at the JKA center in Cotonou.

For seventy-two hours, ten senior athletes from clubs affiliated to the Atlantic-Littoral League faced each other as men and women in the two events of kata and kumite.
In Kata Dames, Cherstine Kodo took first place taking the disappointment from Fridole Tobossou. In men, Jospin Lokossou finished first ahead of Gibril Salaou (second) and Isaac Awélé third.
Regarding Kumite, at the ladies, and final, Fridole Tobossou took over Victoire Codo. In men Aaron Tobossou outclassed Jospin Lokossou. The third place on the podium is occupied by Ken Djido.
At the end of the competition, the president of the Atlantic-Littoral Karate-do League returned to the objective of this competition. "This competition allowed us to gauge the level of our athletes after the long waiting period due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The competition brought together only those karatekas who obtained a medal locally at least.. It therefore allowed us to determine the champion of champions ”, said Éric Gbègbo who did not fail to appreciate the level of the participants "The competition was at a level at least quite good. I am very happy with the different challenges ”.
The same satisfaction is observed in the president of the Benin Karate-do Federation., Rock Quenum. "Outside the champions, we have seen promising young people and if the work continues we could count on them in the future "he suggested.
