Kandi / Asphalting phase B: Effective street identification

As part of the second phase of the project of which the city of Kandi is a beneficiary, the mayor of this municipality, Zinatou Alazi Osseni Saka received on Tuesday morning 09 last February, a delegation made up of executives from the Living Environment and Regional Development Agency and the General Directorate of Urban Development. A session during which the agency for the living environment and the development of the territory recalled the objectives of the project and the criteria for choosing streets.

 "Asphalt paving is one of the major projects initiated by the government which initially concerned 9 cities. Phase A of this project is being completed and currently we are in the preparation phase of the second phase. It is in this sense that we were instructed by our hierarchy to take into account the towns of Kandi and Djougou in the second phase of the asphalting project ", spoke at the end of the working session with the mayor, Moise Atakpa, TP engineer before adding that’ "There is prior work that had already been done by the Departmental Directorate of Living Environment with the CECO-BTP design office which is mandated to study in the city of Kandi. But the agency would like to make sure that the streets that were chosen meet the criteria of the asphalt project ".

Afterwards, the delegation made a field trip to assess the configuration of the city's road network in order to identify potential streets to be developed. In total 14 streets were visited for an approximate length of 14km. A l’issue, a classification was made in order of priority defined by the town hall. At the end of the mission, the municipal authority is delighted and promises the involvement of the municipal council for the proper execution of the work. "We are going to sensitize the population in order to be able to clear the grip" said Mayor Zinatou Alazi Osseni Saka.
