Professor Joël AÏVO, accused of conspiracy against state security and money laundering appeared on Monday 6 December at the Court for the Repression of Economic Infractions and Terrorism. At the end of a long process, the verdict of the trial fell around 2:30 a.m..
Thus after the requisition of the Public Ministry represented by the special prosecutor Mario Mètonou, and the various defense pleas, Associate Professor of Law, Joël Aïvo was sentenced to 10 years of criminal imprisonment with 45 million fine. The Court, after examining all the contours of the trial, found him guilty of money laundering and endangering state security with the co-defendants Boni Sarè Issiakou and Ibrahim Bachabi Moudjaïdou. Only the sieur Alain Dotou Gnonlonfoun is released for the benefit of the doubt.
