Jean Louis Gnidokponou, president of the Wézon Arts and Cultures association : “It’s a challenge for us”

The creativity and genius of Beninese artists are running through the streets. All it takes is a little support and guidance for them to experience interesting successes.. It is to bring his little stone to fruition in this important sector in the development of any nation that Jean Louis Gnidokponou decided to put his hand in the dough. In this exclusive interview, the president of the Wézon Arts and Cultures association reveals his ideas and projects.

Why did you create the Wézon Arts and Cultures association? ?

Lovers of the culture of our country and seeing for several years that young Beninese people are making a lot of effort in the field of arts and culture, we considered it useful to set up this association to support them further and above all to encourage healthy emulation in order to reveal Benin in our own way. Have you been influenced by them in your work, if we can truly support young people in the field of arts and culture, we are going to reduce unemployment a little. So the Wézon Arts and Cultures association was born to boost Beninese culture. We've been doing it informally for a very long time., but we have decided to make it official in order to make all our actions visible across the entire national territory..

What are the objectives of Wézon Arts and Cultures?

Benin has enormous potential in cultivation from north to south, from east to west. And every day that God makes young Beninese demonstrate the extent of their talent through creations drawn from this cultural diversity. So, we will have to support them and above all accompany them on all levels. Wézon Arts et Cultures is therefore created to promote the Arts, from Benin, the promotion of culture through various means. The Wézon Arts and Cultures festival will be the springboard to revitalize the field of arts and Cultures.

How thought- you reach them ?

We aim to set up a major biennial festival of arts and cultures through our association.. A festival that will detect musical artists, comedians, modern and traditional instrumentalists, painters, art creators and others. As I told you, Benin is full of talents in these fields and our festival will put these hidden or unknown talents in the spotlight.. We are not going to forget known talents because it is through them we will discover the unknown or hidden ones.. You understand that this is a challenge for us.

Speak- we have activities in sight

Several activities are on the menu of our action plan as part of the revitalization of our culture. We will have time to explain the main points of the Wézon Arts and Cultures Festival to you. For the moment we have started a light program which allows us to put ourselves in condition and prepare public opinion for what will happen.. So every two weeks we organize a mini concert at the Wézon GJL bar located in Houéyiho. A live concert which allows music artists to come and show off and cheer up the public and customers of the Wézon GJL bar.

A word to conclude
