Insecurity in Parakou: Three thugs out of order

In the night of 09 at 10 September 2021, three alleged thugs were shot dead in the Nima district in the third district of Parakou. The operation masterfully carried out by the elements of Commissioner Ambroise Koffi was a resounding success. More details here.

According to information from the newspaper "Le Matinal", a motorcycle taxi driver belonging to the Gozem structure was attacked by a machete and dispossessed of his motorcycle in the Nima district around 2 h. His assailant, an individual coming out of a bush. The driver was saved thanks to his legs. Indeed, the motorcycle-taxi driver was approached by a customer at the Papini crossroads for the Nima district. " On my way, the customer declares that he no longer recognizes his destination and has asked the motorcycle taxi driver to turn back. It was on the way home that the crime was committed ", informs the commissioner of the third district of Parakou, Ambroise Koffi stating that "It was the motorcycle's tracking system that allowed it to be located in a house in the‘ ’Nima’ ’district”. The police, according to the commissioner's explanations went to the scene and initially arrested three individuals including a woman in the house where the motorcycle was hidden.

“One of the individuals confessed in the summary interrogation and indicated that it is his brother and other people who indulge in this practice and it is they who came to drop the motorcycle in the house and are emerged. Following this information, the police kept the three individuals and set up a surveillance system in the house in order to catch the real perpetrators of the zemidjan assault. It was around 5:45 am that the elements of the Republican police stormed the house with a warning to the occupants of the room in which the motorcycle was located to open the door.. The latter put up resistance, it was during this time that a first thug made the back wall in an attempt to escape, but his race will not have lasted long, because caught up by the police elements on which, he drew his dagger, the response was fatal and he was neutralized. A second thug who had taken refuge in the ceiling of the second room of the bedroom with the third came down, pointing a homemade double-barreled pistol at the police.. He too was neutralized. The third thug suffered the same fate as the first by making the wall with a machete in hand.  The body searches of these three alleged thugs and the search of the rooms made it possible to find several robbery objects including daggers, military outfits, Indian hemp balls and others. All this confirms that this is a network of criminal associations. The three bodies were deposited in the morgue ”

Investigations, according to the same source, are continuing in order to get hold of possible network members on the loose. Alain S. Bamenou, the deputy departmental director of the Republican Police of Borgou called on the population to collaborate with the Republican Police by providing them with information in a dynamic of co-production of security, especially in this period of end-of-year watch.
