Flood in Porto-Novo : GNSP to the rescue

The torrential rain that fell on Porto-Novo this Saturday 09 July 2022 did a lot of damage. Within a few hours, strings of water fell causing flash flooding in the city of three names.

Many houses have been flooded. But the diligence of the departmental team of the national group of firefighters relieved the victims. In the 1st district of Porto-Novo, more precisely in the Adjégounlè district, the populations lived an almost nightmarish day. It was life saving. Some streets and houses, were under water after the endless rain that dictated its law throughout the day. A house was particularly affected by the pangs of this torrential rain. Everything was submerged transforming the ground floor of the R+1 apartment into an artificial swimming pool.

The occupants of the said house did not have peace thanks to the promptness of the fire soldiers. Alerted from Cotonou, by the second in command of the National Group of Firefighters, Lieutenant Colonel Dalis Ahouagbènon, captain's elements, Ould Choubade, Commander of the Ouémé and Plateau Departmental Company, evacuated the water from the house and avoided the worst for the inhabitants after a few hours of work. A prompt intervention of the firefighters that the residents praised for its true value.

Already the imprint of Lieutenant-Colonel Zoulkoufli Gomina Sanni?

It all seems. Because this prompt reaction testifies to the humanity which reflects the native of Parakou. Always guided by the concern for the well-being of his loved ones and above all to serve the people, the new boss of the National Group of Firefighters, seems to have transmitted its dynamic to its collaborators.

Indeed, Lieutenant-Colonel Zoulkoufli Gomina Sanni saw the 23 January 1973 in Parakou. Former troop resident of the 6th promotion of the military Prytanée de Bembèrèkè, Lieutenant-Colonel Zoulkoufli Gomina Sanni was incorporated into the Beninese armed forces under general service, as a non-commissioned officer from October 1 1995. After obtaining his baccalaureate series A1 in 1994, he will then obtain his Interarms certificate (CIA) in 1996. After his professional immersion in the realities of men of fire, he will leave for the Interarms Military School of Yaoundé in Cameroon in 1998 for his initial officer training. On his return, he will be reassigned to GNSP to pursue his dream of saving lives. Since July 1 2020, he is the Director General of the National Group of Firefighters.
