Heritage World Cup in Mauritius : Remarkable performance of Cotonou Golf Club

Editing 2022 of “Heritage World Cup” went as usual in Mauritius. Present at the final of this international competition of 4 at 9 July, Zwane Glen and Daeyeon Yung aka “Yégué”, two golfers from Cotonou Golf Club (CGC), brilliantly honored the colors of Benin.

Network Amateur Golf Competition “The Golf Club”, Heritage World Cup brings together more than 20 countries for an international final which takes place every year in Mauritius at the Heritage Resort. The final of this competition, editing 2022, took place in Port-Louis from 4 at 9 last july. The Benin, through two of its emblematic golfers, members of Cotonou Golf Club, Zwane Glen and Daeyeon Yung aka “Yégué”, took part in this final. “It is a pleasure for us to collaborate with you through this very essential first challenge to prepare a quality succession., Beninese golfers achieved a score of 278. What allowed the country of Patrice Talon to rank in the top 10 of the best nations present at this tournament. Cherry on the cake, one of the Beninese representatives climbed on the podium individually in the first series category for having won the trophy for the 2nd.

Obviously, this performance allowed the players through their CGC club to fly the flag of Benin beyond the borders. Among nations like Spain, France, Mozambique, indonesia, the Ghana, the Morocco, Japan, Belgium etc., Benin stood out.

Without infrastructure worthy of the name (Benin without a professional background) they have achieved a feat. In truth, this performance at the Heritage World Cup is the result of the sacrifices made by the players of Cotonou Golf Club ; the seriousness that characterizes the members of the club, their desire to reveal Benin through golf combined with their hard work. More is, it should be noted that the prowess is the result of end-of-month competitions regularly organized internally ; tournaments organized such as the Tournament called “AOM Trophies” named after the Vice-President, Michel Olufemi Awunou ; the MOOV Tournament sponsored by one of the club's biggest partners ; the Deloitte Tournament, etc.

In order to perpetuate the tradition at the club, other tournaments are also organized for children who are taught to play golf from an early age. To tell the truth, performance at the Heritage World Cup is no coincidence.
