Rising food prices : Government puts an end to uncontrolled exits
The increase in the prices of consumer goods has been noticed lately in Benin. The Beninese government sensitive to this situation considered the subject in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 16 June 2021. From the report of the said council, it emerges that this outbreak is due on the one hand, the low rainfall observed since the last agricultural season and on the other hand, the massive export of local production to neighboring countries and that no tax has been imposed on these products. The Council instructed the ministers concerned to take all measures to avoid the uncontrolled outflow of agricultural products and this pending the taking of more specific measures which could result from the conclusions of an ad-hoc committee set up to reflect on the situation.
