At the closing ceremony of the hajj 2024, Tuesday 18 last june, Benin was distinguished in the category of Hajj Offices with modest quota, alongside Jordan and Malaysia. This is the second prize awarded to countries that have achieved performance in terms of pilgrim satisfaction with the services provided..
2.300, this is the quota wanted and obtained this year by Benin for pilgrims to the hajj. This figure, which breaks with previous ones, aims to limit, among others, the losses recorded in previous years and allow better organization of the pilgrimage. And this choice of the Government is rightly welcomed by Saudi Arabia, organizing country.
“The Saudi authorities proceeded on Tuesday 18 June 2024 at the end of the Hajj 2024. The ceremony which marks the end of the pilgrimage was an opportunity for the organizers to award prizes to several countries. Among them, The Benin, who wins second prize, awarded to countries that have achieved performance in terms of pilgrim satisfaction with the services provided”.
In recognition of his performance, The Benin, as well as the award-winning countries will have the privilege of personalizing, counting from this day, their locations on ritual sites for editing 2025 of Hajj, highlighted, Riyad.
Indeed, this recognition of Saudi Arabia approves the vision of the Beninese Government for the Hajj, supported by the President of the Republic Patrice Talon.
Deserves that, fruit of reforms
The multiple reforms in the sector were reinforced this year by the Hajj Orientation and Supervision Committee, chaired by Minister Olushegun ADJADI BAKARI of Foreign Affairs. After an evaluation, the COS-Hadj, supported by AGLO (Agency for Official Logistics Management), increased meetings with all stakeholders involved in the organization to meet the requirements of the Saudi authorities and improve the services provided to pilgrims.
Note that the first return flight of Beninese pilgrims is expected in Cotonou, the 25 June 2024.
