Gaston Zossou : “This act is forbidden in our culture”

Gaston Zossou, Director General of the National Lottery of Benin (LNB) gave his opinion on the major events which have recently marked socio-political news in Benin. It was during a show broadcast on Sunday 23 June 2024 on the national channel.

In a metaphorical demonstration and well-chosen words as he is used to, Gaston Zossou demonstrated that President Talon, Benin has made significant progress in various areas (socio-community infrastructures, promoting private investment, etc). Very attracted by the asphalting project whose objective is to modernize the urban fabric and through the rehabilitation and development of roads in several towns in Benin, the Director General of the National Lottery of Benin did not hesitate to invite each citizen to touch reality with regard to what is done and done well. " Who, among us who live in Cotonou and its surroundings, did not take the wrong route because the construction sites are going so fast that we could no longer find our way. We who find ourselves with swamps, today we are stunned by the straightness of the roads and the new roads. We can now prophesy our development. And, in front of this evidence, we must accompany the Head of State with all our wishes for success”, did he declare.

This is why he considers the recent accountability tour important, an initiative of the government of Patrice Talon to report directly to Beninese across the country.  “There is nothing strange that people who have been mandated to act on behalf of the community report to it”, he indicated. To better support your argument, he uses the analogy of doctor and patient: “This support is almost psychological. It is as if for any operation, someone was being operated on by a doctor. If he is in a waking state, it is good for the doctor to speak to him and tell him the level of progress of the process, communicates the timing to him so that he is invited to collaborate in his healing”.

The dispute between Benin and Niger

“We have seen certain people, even personalities from our country, speaking out to prove others right”, Gaston Zossou was indignant. According to his explanations, reported by Beninwebtv, this act is forbidden in our culture. “We are not passing the gun, even the weapon of the word over the fence to hand it to the enemy to attack your own house. This is the most vile crime, It’s quite irritating”, he stressed. For Gaston Zossou, “who says federate kingdom Vodunnon, these personalities who have adopted such a posture are in cultural and moral weightlessness. “While we are attacked from outside, we are always one, we do it instinctively”, he hammered.

To finish, he invited all citizens to support and accompany the Head of State in order to ensure a promising future for all.
