Fake eyelashes: The dangerous trend

False eyelashes are a beauty accessory that women use to please. But beware, they are not safe.

More and more women are using false eyelashes to enhance their beauty, often ignoring the impact this can have on their health.. “False eyelashes are above all very aesthetic. They are a complement to make-up », says Laura. Like her, many believe that this technique gives a certain elegance to the eyes of women.

We therefore understand that this technique which consists in placing long and voluminous eyelashes interests a good part of the women.. But these are not alone. Many men find them attractive. This is the case of Gustave Annani, welder : “False eyelashes make women more charming and attractive. Particularly me, I like to see the women wearing them”.

Muriel A. does she really think, “It is the lack of self-confidence that leads women to this practice”, and let it be known that "day by day, we find that the woman harbors a burning desire to please others with her physique”. For this young lady, men are primarily responsible for this practice observed among women today. "They attach too much importance to the physical to the detriment of the behavior", she laments.

Just like her, Marie-Elisée thinks that this practice distances women from the naturalness that characterizes them and even finds that the products used to place these false eyelashes later have negative impacts on the eyes.. What also thinks Murielle who declares "I believe that it would not be without consequences for the eyes".

 According to the results of research work carried out by American researchers and published in "Journal of the Royal Society Interface", "The length of an eyelash should correspond to a third of the width of the eye and this dimension makes it possible to reduce the flow of air which arrives on the surface of the eye by limiting dehydration and the deposition of aerial particles of the order of 50% ». In an article published in March 2015 in Top Health magazine, Apolline Henry says that "False eyelashes are longer than natural eyelashes. Results, instead of reducing the flow of air that arrives at the ocular surface, they tend to increase it. Result, the eye becomes dehydrated more quickly, and more frequently attacked by airborne particles, which can lead to xerophthalmia (or dry eye syndrome).
