January legislative elections 2023: Youth and women at the heart of the campaign

These are the social strata most desired at present by the various candidates in the legislative elections of the 08 January 2023. Like the young and beautiful girl from the neighborhood, the courtiers make their eyes to tear out their hearts. They compete with arguments and stratagems, each as superficial as the other..

As in the real, the methods chosen according to the means available to the soul hunters who have only one goal to arrow their victims and set off again on another adventure. While some claim to have positioned 40, 50 even more than 60% young people on their lists, others estimate the percentage of women candidates to 38, 30, etc. It seems that everything was confined to questions of numbers and statistics. If there is no controversy over these figures, there is nevertheless reason to question the sincerity of the intentions of the leaders of the political parties and to question this sudden attachment to the problems of young people and women. Are they sincere in their approach ? Why is it only today that this love is so strong ? That this is not just out of electoral necessity but a real dynamic of a change of political course and paradigm. Is this really the end of the era of female stage drivers where they are invited just to shout “Alouwassio ooh” and applaud wildly the arrival of political leaders at meetings? ? In the not so distant past, young people were relegated to dirty work, paste the posters. Others were committed to make more dismal ones ; tear up the opponent's posters or ransack their seats for the most fanatical of the lot.

Benin has more than 52 % of women and a high proportion of young men at the last RGPH. Projections also show that this trend will increase in the coming decades.. In this perspective, those concerned must remain vigilant to take advantage of this economic bridge that they have to solve the challenges of their generations. They must be inspired by France Fanon ; '' discover their mission, fill it or betray it''. It will be to their credit.
