Donation of medical equipment and consumables to the Suru Léré area teaching hospital: The humanitarian gesture of the NGO Feed Needs

To bring a sigh of relief in the exercise of their work, the university hospital center (CHU) of Suru Léré area received donations of medical equipment. An initiative of the non-governmental organization (Ong) Feed Needs which has just done a useful work for the well-being of the population of Akpakpa and its surroundings. The official handover ceremony took place on Friday, 27 January 2023 in the presence of partners of the NGO Feed Needs and hospital officials.

For the medical adviser of the NGO, Dr Mirabelle Oza, the donation includes, among other things, two heart monitors, heart monitoring electrodes and many other medical consumables (especially visors, cervical collars, nasal cannulas, sterile gloves, aprons, nasogastric tubes, suture kits, pediatric pressure cuffs then adult pressure cuffs, pediatric oxygen nasal cannula, etc). This donation is the work of the NGO Feed Needs which is not at its first humanitarian gesture in this hospital. "In 2020, we were passing through the hospital. The development of the country is a priority for the NGO. With friends and partners, we are mobilizing to bring donations to support the actions of the Beninese government in the field of health», will say the president of the NGO, Rev. Dr. Codjo Victor Dangnihoun. To believe it, the Suru-Léré area CHU was chosen taking into account the observation made on the spot. For him, the particularity of the donation is that it includes two heart monitors which will have a significant impact for the resuscitation and emergency services for the happiness of the population. While thanking all the partners who have contributed on both sides to the realization of this humanitarian mission, in particular the partners of Canada and mainly of Quebec, he requested the support of the Beninese authorities for the exemption of donations of materials for the times to come. “We ask the authorities at various levels to support us in the exemption of donations especially to help us have a framework agreement, to have the necessary exemption to bring in the donations”, added the president of the NGO, Rev. Dr. Codjo Victor Dangnihoun.

“Among these materials, we have the essentials that will help us in the quality of the support, especially the multi-parameter monitors. It will help us to further ensure the fluidity of our care for patients”, said the representative of the doctors, Dr Pamphile Yedenou. “We will make good use of all these materials and we want these donations to be repeated so that we can be at the optimal level in order to perform our services in the appropriate quality”, he continued. Quant Patrick Tokpanou, Director General of the Suru-Léré Zone University Hospital, he could not find another stronger word to express the joy that animates him. “…I would like to say a sincere thank you”, he said. He reassured that the donation will be used for the purposes for which it is intended. "Users will benefit from it within the hospital and be reassured", he promised.
