Diplomacy : Two diplomatic missions suspend the issuance of Benin passports

Beninese residents of the United States and Canada will no longer be able to renew their passport, nor establish them. Through a press release from 5 Mars 2021, Ambassador Jean-Claude do Régi announced the suspension of this important tool.

"It is brought to the attention of the Beninese community residing in the United States of America and Canada that the enrollment of compatriots for the establishment and / or renewal of their ordinary biometric passports is suspended until further notice", wrote the diplomat.

To believe it, new arrangements are being made for the imminent resumption of the process of establishing and issuing Beninese passports in the United States and Canada. The Benin embassy in France also suspended on Monday 08 mars 2021, issuance of passports to its nationals. Through a memo, Ambassador Eusèbe Agbangla had announced the news.

Note that the temporary suspension of the issuance and renewal of passports to Benin nationals follows a government decision to set up a system for personalizing and digitizing the Beninese passport process..
