Sport development: Partnership now sealed between Benin and Baltimore-Maryland

In the dynamics of the development of his sport, Benin has established a partnership with the city of Baltimore-Maryland, Tuesday 26 January 2021. The contents of the said agreement were revealed during a press conference by the Technical Advisor to the Minister of Sports, Jean-Marc Adjovi Boco, le senior advisor Baltimore-Maryland, Bunni Jinadu and the Minister of Sports, Oswald Homeky.

US city of Baltimore-Maryland is candidate to host part of World Cup events, America 2026. And if it is retained, the image of Benin will be associated with this great world mass of sport-king. This is the first objective of this partnership. According to Jean-Marc Adjovi Boco, it’s not just local football that will benefit. “We have just forged a partnership that goes beyond the sport field”, entrusted the Technical Advisor to the Minister of Sports while specifying ” In addition to the image of Benin, which will be clearly visible throughout the preparation (2021-2026) and even more, this partnership opens the door to the development of sports programs for women and young people. This will make it possible to create channels for acquiring skills and professional opportunities both in sport and in tourism, the economy and others”. Benin will be the first country,  will he say to have this type of partnership with a city in the USA because of ” Everything the president does, Patrice Talon. His vision for sport through the sports classes project and the construction of infrastructures”.

Pour le senior advisor Baltimore-Maryland,  this partnership between the two parties is a first in the relationship between the city of Baltimore Maryland and Benin but also aims to transfer skills in the organization of major sports competitions “The United States leads the world in sports economy. It is naturally that we chose Benin for this great initiative in the development of sport”, to Bunmi Jinadu.

Happy with this partnership, Sports Minister Oswald Homkey urged the sports family to properly play their score so that the goals are achieved. “This support for the candidacy of this American city which has many similarities with our country is a support which for us is quite natural. Next to that, we are going to organize ourselves so that Benin is there as a participating country ”, he concluded.
