West African development : The MFSG advocates the dissolution of ECOWAS

The Movement of Sahelo-Guinean Federalists (MFSG) set up its Beninese section. This is thanks to a General Assembly held in Calavi on Saturday 6 August 2022. During the Cotonou meetings, the MFSG shared its federalist vision of West African states during a press conference. Vision, in fact, intends the dissolution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

This movement with a pan-Africanist overtone swears by economic and geographic federalism as a model of governance.. During his exchange with media men at a press conference, Professor Egdar Gnanssounou noted that the delay in development of Africa is due to its current functioning. The fragmentation of States and narrow-minded orientations. To rectify the situation, he observed that the vision of the MFSG is the reconstitution of the geographical space of West Africa into two blocks. It involves the pooling of governance spaces in a federal mode with the aim of ensuring peace., democracy and prosperity in the sub-region. This federation will have as its compass a democratic constitution adopted according to the dual legitimacy of the people and the federated states.. It therefore favors multilingualism in teaching to facilitate and strengthen communication and exchanges in the sub-region..

The project led by the MFSG explains Edgar Gnansounou, will come out short, medium and long term on a common policy on geographical affiliation, common justice and security. This implies the harmonization of the conditions for the creation and development of large industrial centers in the West African region to promote job creation.. At the heart of this dynamic; industrialization to maximize economic growth in the region with a view to finding appropriate solutions to youth employment problems. A dynamic that the founder of the Sahelo-Guinean Federalist Movement supports through the construction of socio-educational infrastructure, the efficient implementation of favorable conditions for the free movement of people and goods. So, it aims to bring together all citizens with the idea of ​​promoting their effective integration. The first objective is the creation of two large blocks. On the one hand the Federation of Nigeria which brings together the border states of the African giant and the decentralized Federation. This takes into account all other countries in the West African sub-region. However, each country will retain its sovereignty and its autonomy of management while being in the great confederation within which the supra orientations will be defined.
