The patriarch of African football bowed out this Thursday 8 August 2024 in Paris. Issa Hayatou, the former president of the African Football Confederation went from life to death at the age of 78 years.

Born the 9 August 1946 in Garoua, Issa Hayatou gave everything for the revolution of African sport king. Former athlete and basketball player, he was Secretary General of the Cameroonian Football Federation, of 1974 at 1983. From 1982 at 1986, he becomes Director of Sports of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In August 1987, he becomes president of CAF. Under his mandate, and for the first time, the continent hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2010, in South Africa. In 2002, he ran for FIFA president but was defeated by Sepp Blatter.
