Failure to wear a helmet on the roads : Reduction of the fixed fine

In a press release signed by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mr. Alassane SEIDOU and made public this Wednesday 24 avril 2024, the government announces the reduction of the fixed fine relating to failure to wear a helmet on the roads. This fine increases to 5.000 CFA francs instead of 10.000 CFA francs.

In this same press release, the government insists on the need to respect the regulations in force regarding traffic on public roads in the Republic of Benin. He also deplores, unfortunate incidents between Republican Police officers and road users. That is why, Police officers are reminded of their duty of professionalism in all circumstances.

Instructions were also given to the police hierarchy to take disciplinary and/or legal measures in the event of violation of the rights of road users by police officers..
