Crisis within the Ivorian Boules and Pétanque Federation : Idrissou Ibrahima brings peace

This Saturday 6 Avril 2023, an important working session was held at the headquarters of the Confédération Africaine des Sports Boules in Cotonou. The objective is to find a solution to the crisis currently plaguing the Ivorian Boules and Pétanque Federation..

Like a father to his children, the honorable Idrissou Ibrahima brought together the various protagonists of the crisis which is shaking Ivorian bowls sports in order to find a peaceful solution between the actors of this discipline. In his first words, President Idrissou Ibrahima indicated that this session aims to resolve the disputes that have reigned within the Ivorian Boules and Pétanque Federation for some time. He also emphasized the will of the Ivorian government of His Excellency Alassane Dramane Ouattara who spares no effort to support sport in his country..

His example is, the beautiful organization of the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations which the president of the CASB is under the spell. A nod was also made to the Minister of Sports M. Robert Mambé Beugré who continues to give better directions for the evolution of Ivorian sport. He also took advantage of his words to congratulate the current leaders of the Federation for their recent victories at the 8th African Nations Championship and the Nations Cup during the 50th edition of the pétanque world championships in Cotonou..

Present at this working session, the president and vice-president of the Ivorian Boules and Pétanque Federation also demonstrated their faith in wanting to resolve the problems during this session. “It is not for an occasion of joy, but it’s to settle a dispute…. We are under the baobab, a wise man, an extraordinary library……”, declared Vice-President José Gauthé at the outset. “I am a man of peace… a man of concessions, a working man. You understood what the president said. We came to Ivory Coast thinking that we were going to install José Gauthé as president of the Boules and Pétanque Federation, but José Gauthé said honor to my big brother. If I did it in 2020, I am ready to accept what comes, but based on the words we said to each other” continued the number 2 from FIBP. Strong words which testify to the will of the various actors reached a milestone during this working session in Cotonou before returning to Ivory Coast.

The President of the Ivorian Boules and Pétanque Federation, Ouga Mathias supports this desire to do things well by adding that “it is a very good initiative to call your children to clear up all kinds of misunderstandings. I believe that this is what the President of the CASB invited us to do... We are all willing to get along as best we can so that pétanque in Côte d’Ivoire does not die”.

This working session took place in the presence of several other officials from the African Boules Sports Confederation, notably the project managers and the Ivorian Boules and Pétanque Federation.. The small dishes are therefore being put into the big ones so that this young federation whose year of birth only dates back to 2020 can regain its letters of nobility.
