Universal health coverage and PAPC : 86 billion FCFA from the IDB for Benin

On the sidelines of the 46th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group (BID) held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, two major loan agreements were signed for the benefit of the Republic of Benin. The signing took place between the Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance, Governor of the IDB, Mr. Romuald Wadagni and the President of the IDB Group Dr. Muhammed Sulaiman Al-Jaser.

86 billion FCFA is the overall cost of these major projects of the Government's Action Program. "Bridging the gaps : community Health, human resources and nutrition ”, is the first project to improve the supply of health services with a view to universal health coverage for the population on the horizon 2025. This project aims to make health services permanently accessible to the entire population by strengthening the community health system., quality human resources in health and nutrition services. The second is the Cotonou City Pluvial Sanitation Program Support Project (PAPC), which consists of the construction of 13 kms of drainage collectors in all sections in the four watersheds of the city of Cotonou. This work will help improve the quality of life of residents of several disadvantaged neighborhoods.

On this occasion, Minister of State Romuald Wadagni transmitted to Dr Muhammed Sulaiman Al-Jaser, warm congratulations from President Talon. He did not fail to salute the excellent relations between the IDB and Benin, materialized by substantial funding for the Government's Action Program.

For its part, Dr Muhammed Sulaiman Al-Jaser assured of the relentless pursuit of the support of the IDB Group for the benefit of the prosperity and well-being of the populations of Benin. Dr Al-Jaser finally offered his congratulations to the President of the Republic and his government for the country's great progress on the economic front..
