Maracana World Cup, mara’monde 2024National coach Juste Fleury Dansou unveils the list of 12 players

The first edition of the Maracana World Cup takes place in Abidjan in Ivory Coast 25 September to 7 October 2024. Sixteen nations will take part in this major event, among which is Benin which revealed the list of its 12 ambassadors.
The Benin, engaged in this historic adventure, will be represented in Ivory Coast by its senior selection, under the direction of Juste Fleury Dansou, national coach. The latter recently took his players to training in Ouidah, a grouping made possible thanks to the determined involvement of the Executive Committee of the Beninese Maracana Federation (Phoebe), chaired by Nassirou Saka, with the essential support of the Minister of Sports, Benoît Dato.
And for this meeting, the national coach revealed the list of 12 Beninese players who will defend the national colors in Abidjan. He also highlighted the major innovation of this first edition of the Maracana World Cup. : the participation of three distinct age categories, namely the juniors (16 at 34 years), seniors (35 at 44 years) and the super seniors (45 years and over). “This format requires teams to select players in these three categories, according to well-defined quotas : three juniors, six seniors and three super seniors out of a total workforce of 12 players », he explained. He also specified that this edition will be distinguished by a new game format, with matches played in three periods of 10 minutes, instead of the two periods usually in force. The coach assured that the Beninese team, carefully constructed, combines physical strength, technique, speed, as well as a harmonious combination of young talents and experienced players.

The president of Fébéma confident
Nassirou Saka, president of the Beninese Maracan Federation (Phoebe) remains confident in his team's performance. He affirmed that Benin is ready to take up the challenge. “The maracana in Benin is managed by enthusiasts and experienced actors. We are ready since the end of the championship”, did he declare. The president of Fébéma did not fail to congratulate the coach as well as his technical team for the work accomplished. He also wanted to express his gratitude to the Minister of Sports and his colleagues for their support throughout the preparation., which made it possible to select the 12 players who will proudly represent Benin in Abidjan. Benin will therefore approach this competition with determination and ambition, in the hope of standing out on the international scene and flying the colors of the country.
