Electoral council : Abiola and Davo take the oath

They are now complete. These are the members of the Electoral Council (CE). After the resignation of Adolphe Djiman, President Patrice Talon has appointed a representative within the electoral institution. Her name is Laurentine DOSSO Davo.

Indeed, President Patrice Talon expressed the wish on 14 July 2021 that the replacement for Mr. Boukari Adam Soulé be a woman. “I would like to note that in the outgoing Institution, there was a woman. And there, we have four (04) men and I am willing to hope that the last member will be a woman to correct this deficiency”, he pleaded, addressing the President of the National Assembly. But the deputies opted for François Abiola. Thus the Head of State has just fulfilled his wish by appointing a woman to the Electoral Council. And this Wednesday 22 September, Laurentine Adossou Davo, political party member, Progressive Union (the LNA party benefited from the support of the political parties of the presidential movement, in particular the Union ¨Progressiste) and current second deputy mayor of the Commune of Abomey and François Abiola have already been officially sworn in. With this step taken, they will join Sacca Lafia, Nicolas Assogba and Sanni Gounou who had been there for a few months.

It must be remembered that, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 2019-43 of 15 November 2019 bearing the Electoral Code in its article 19, the Electoral Council has for, among other missions,, to ensure the proper organization of the ballots and the sincerity of the votes, oversee voting operations and the centralization of results, carry out the necessary checks and controls, publish the provisional results of the legislative elections and the election of the President of the Republic and transmit them to the Constitutional Court and proclaim the final results of the election of the members of the communal councils.
