The Ségbana-Tsamia axis is coming to life and transporters are already congratulating the authorities of Benin and Nigeria. Officially put into service on 21 May 2024, the Ségbana-Tsamia corridor is already delighting users, traders and political-administrative authorities of the two countries. A delegation from the Beninese Federation of Authorized Customs Brokers (FEBECAD) led by its Secretary General, Jude Fagbemi and General Treasurer Léon Mensah carried out on Tuesday 11 to thursday 13 June 2024 a visit to the new corridor.

Designed and designed to streamline land trade between Benin and Nigeria, the ambitious corridor which connects Benin at Ségbana to Nigeria via Tsamia is already a reality. Two sites have been identified to receive heavy goods vehicles including a parking lot in Ségbana in Benin and a dry port in 70 hectares in Kebbi State thanks to the support of the Governor of this State Dr Nasir Idris with some economic operators from Nigeria.

“The commissioning of this corridor is a declared political will of the leaders of Benin and Nigeria in order to support economic operators suffering from the various decisions taken by the Nigerian authorities. It is a way out for economic operators, traders and all stakeholders in the cross-border trade sector” underlined Jude Fagbémi. He urges the authorities responsible for the security of the two countries to strengthen the security of this axis in order to guarantee the peace of mind of the various actors in the system..
