National Handisport Championships edition 2024 : The best known of the season

The National Paralympic Committee of Benin organized on behalf of the year 2024, the final phase of the national disabled sports championships. For this purpose, near 200 athletes massively responded to the call from the parent structure to gauge their level. A l’issue, satisfaction was on the lips and objective achieved by the National Paralympic Committee of Benin headed by President Abdel Rahman Ouorou Barè.

On the menu, of this major meeting which took place at the Akassato Sino-Beninese Friendship Technical High School and at the Sowéto center (Four), there is para athletics, le goal ball, para table tennis, Powerlifting, the handi-basket, and a para volleyball demonstration. And it was the para athletics me who opened this championship. There were competitions like the seated shot put (Man/Lady), seated and standing javelin throw (Man/Lady) and the 100m (Man/Lady). People with all types of disabilities competed fiercely and conquered the different steps of the podium. And it was Lions Handisport de Cotonou which was crowned champion team of Benin in rolling basketball by beating its counterpart from Wanroussesourou de Parakou. At the end of the meeting, it was the Cotonou team that dictated its law to the players from the City of Kobourou.

At the goal ball level, it was the formation of Dynamo de Parakou which took over that of ASAB de Cotonou. In sum, there were surprises, revelations and confirmations, and the competition kept all its promises. Which justifies the satisfaction of the president of CNP-Benin Abdel Rahman Ouorou Barè. “We had more than 192 athletes who participated in this championship and it is happy to see that over the years the number is increasing. We innovated this year by doing demonstrations in women's goal ball, para-volley, for badminton… », he rejoices before saluting the effort of the athletes for the surge of solidarity and the commitment which characterized them throughout the championship: “The performances are better than those of the past edition. For proof at the javelin level, we had a young athlete who excelled during his first participation by achieving a throw of 40 meters while the best in the world is at 47 m and the second to 38 m ».

He also thanked the government through the Ministry of Sports for its daily support to the National Paralympic Committee.. Note that teams received work materials to train even better.
