The events of the 4th edition of the African Roller Speed Skating Championships have been held in Porto-Novo since Wednesday 4 August. On behalf of this first day, the Beninese won 11 medals. A harvest that will improve at the end of the second day this Thursday.
Despite a complicated start to the competition, the Beninese perfectly knew how to recover this Wednesday. Indeed, on the 100m, Benin, which is aiming for all titles, has won only one gold medal. This thanks to Hermionne Ahouissou who dominated the senior women's 100m ahead of the Egyptian Lama Bayoumy. Larissa Otchoumaré finished fourth.
It was not until the 10,000m to see the Beninese achieve a full box by winning all the gold medals. For junior girls, Rawdath Demba Diallo rode a perfect race to claim gold. Same result for Henresth Houngbo in junior boys. Among seniors, Hermionne Ahouissou won gold ahead of Egyptian Lina Bayoumy (argent) and her compatriot Larissa Otchoumaré (bronze).
In older men, it is no surprise that the Beninese Abraham Amoussou won the race with the gold medal around his neck. His compatriot Issoufou Bachirou snatches the silver medal ahead of the Egyptian Ali Mohamed. At the arrival, for this first day, Benin won a total of 11 medals including 5 en or, 3 in silver and 3 and bronze.
