After a long suspense, the verdict is in! The executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) voted unanimously for Morocco. The Kingdom will therefore organize the next African Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) for the 2th times in its history.
It's now official, after several postponements of this meeting as well as other twists and turns in the affair of the Algerian candidacy, it is up to Morocco to organize the next CAN.
This Wednesday in Cairo, the long-awaited meeting of the CAF Executive Committee took place. During this, officials of the continental body decided that Morocco indeed had the strongest case in this race for organization.
The session started with the observation of a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the earthquake which struck the Al Haouz region and the victims of the floods in Libya..
Made up of 24 members, Patrice Motsepe and his men voted unanimously for the Moroccan candidacy for the organization of the CAN 2025.
In addition to the Moroccan file, 3 other candidates were in the race. This is Algeria, Zambia and Nigeria-Benin who had presented a joint candidacy. The latter withdrew their applications a few months ago.
