At the end of the meeting which pitted Buffalos FC du Borgou at Mouloudia Club in Algiers (1-1), disputed on Saturday 28 last November at Charles de Gaulle stadium in Porto-Novo, counting for the first leg of the preliminary round of the African Champions League, the coach of the Ecureuils du Bénin gave his impressions. For Michel Dussuyer, Buffalo FC du Borgou had a good match.
How do you read the meeting ?
First I will congratulate this Buffalo team for their performance. Because they not only played a good game but also knew how to compete with a big African club. It’s very encouraging and I want to make it clear. In relation to the physiognomy of the match, they also caused problems for this Algerian team, the Mouloudia. They had opportunities. The Mouloudia goalkeeper was called upon. He had to make stops. So here are some good things, good content with a little more experience there was room to win this match and leave with a small advantage before the return leg.
Other aspects of your analysis
We saw an Ox team who tried to develop their game. They also varied the offensives by landing interesting strikes.. These are facts of the game often rare in Beninese clubs. But, tonight, the initiatives were there and for the most part, they were dangerous. We had a team which, through the quality of its attackers, managed to gain physical ascendancy over its opponent at one point. In front, there was also a Mouloudia team which has technical skills. We saw him on a well negotiated free kick, they found the flaw. On the other hand, among Buffaloes a lot of waste in this area.
Do you see the Oxes making a positive result in the return leg??
Always believe in it. These North African teams have often had problems with the heat when they come to tropical countries.. They will be more comfortable physically at home. But I think today they must have seen that this Ox team was not easy to handle. It would be another match. It will be necessary to score there to qualify. The most important thing is not to put pressure on yourself. They just have to try to rehearse their performance they did on the outward journey.
