Benign : Ban on public manifestations of the Egoun-goun cult in the commune of Abomey-Calavi

A few weeks, festivities of the Vodoun cult, the mayor of Abomey-Calavi, Angelo Ahouandjinou a, in a press release signed on Thursday 14 December 2023, prohibits public manifestations of the Egoun-goun cult.

The decision to ban public demonstrations of the Egoun-goun cult informs the mayor is in perspective “to prevent disturbances to public order and to safeguard peace and social tranquility in the commune of Abomey-Calavi”.

Therefore, “the mayor informs the population that it is prohibited, upon distribution of this press release, any human gathering of a manifestation of devotion to the Egou-goun cult throughout the territory of the commune of Abomey-Calavi” warns the authority.

So he calls “in the sense of responsibility and deference of the dignitaries of its different religions with a view to strict observance of this prescription”.

However, underlines the mayor through the press release according to the Investigator that measures have been taken to repress any violator of his decision. “Failing that, repressive measures will be considered against any offender who is caught in the act of transgressing this ban.”, he specified.
